1. MMO characters, D&D characters, Pathfinder characters, and characters created for various video games would all be considered Original Characters for the purposes of this game. Because this is a native AU game and all characters come from Idan with their own Idan backstories, each character will only have backstory ties with players who agree to work their character's histories together. Their original canons do not matter much in this regard because they will have alternate backstories for the game regardless of their original created intent. We welcome them all.

2. Yes, and they often are. Merging different types of magic is how alchemy was created in Idan and the people in Idan are always experimenting with new ways to use magic.

3. Aether and Void magic with respect to Idan are ancient forms of magic predominately used by the deities. In Idan's cultural views, aether would be the magic that comes from the Astral realm/stars, while void would be the magic from the Outer realm/abyss. They are the two types of ancient/divine magic in Idan and are the oldest sources of magic in the realm of the living. They are the original two types of magic from which all other magic eventually came from.

They are not well understood, volatile, and very difficult to wield or control. Both Void and Aether magic rely on the user having a level of faith in the deities as well as the deities having a level of faith in the user.

A few examples of aether magic include: Astral projecting, astral manipulation, deity/spirit-specific/given magic, elemental attunement, telekinesis, shapeshifting, and telepathy. Aether is believed to be the origin of arcane magic and the core wild magics.

A few examples of void magic include: Void projecting, abyssal manipulation, deity/demon-specific/given magic, demonic attunement, materialization, transformation, and mind control. Void is believed to be the origin of alchemy and the living wild magics.

The merging of Aether and Void magic is believed to have created feral and fortune magic, as well as healing magic, necromancy, and the disparate wild magics.

Light and shadow magic are 'tamed' or watered down versions of aether and void magic.
