A few preliminary questions so I know better ones to ask!
1) Priests in the game setting. Is it acceptable for there to be battle-priests and clerics? Would they have been heavily involved in the fighting in the war not just for healing? Also, even if a priest is associated with a temple, would they be able to get away with being somewhat rogue from it in terms of wandering the countryside to shirk their duties and drink wine and flirt with women pursue their calling? (Asking not for my character, but reflecting his mentor in canon.) I know exorcism and spiritual purification is mentioned as something possible with arcane and wild magic, but can you give some examples of how prevalent that is/what sort of occupation one might be able to find around that and putting the (un)dead to rest? tl;dr, I play an exorcist where "exorcism" is all Vatican-conscripted orphans (BASICALLY) fighting with holy weapons that put tormented souls to rest upon destroying the creature they've become, and one of his defining mantras is "if we're destroyers and not saviors, then I want to be a destroyer who can save". And is intensely uncomfortable with people seeing him as a priest, despite being mentored and raised by (a bad) one and having a holy weapon.
EDIT: related, as I get better ideas, how feasible would it be to have had a mercenary who was an ex-priest.
2) While I have ideas for how to mirror my character's canon curse in a dark arts/necromancy ritual backfiring, I'm trying to come up with how to mirror his left arm/status as a living weapon as it's a hugely defining character trait, and an un-alterable part of his appearance. He was born with a parasitic holy weapon as his left arm, which left him disfigured as it's more demonic in appearance in its inactive form. He learned over time to invoke it, first as a claw, then later able to pull his entire arm off to form a giant exorcising sword that can't harm humans, as well as manifest body armor from it in the form of a living/angelic-appearing feathery cloak. (I have more information on my canon info page, under Abilities/Innocence.) It's semi-sentient as well when invoked and tied to his life force.
Is there anything in game lore I can run with for this, especially since its normal appearance is blood red and plated, and could be argued as almost being draconic in appearance? Either for something he was born with, or got at a very young age, especially as another "curse" if I go with his trying to bring his adoptive father back through a dark pact/necromancy of some sort that results in his left eye being cursed. But since Allen is about duality and his eye is a curse (dark) but his arm is a holy weapon (light), I would like to try and keep the duality or at least some distinction. And if it helps, I was considering heavily dhampir for his race (as he is the unwilling host to a darker, powerful entity awakening in him prone to raging/lashing out that has nothing to do with anything else I've mentioned. These shounen series, man.)
edit: 3!!!) can I run with traveling circuses/performers being a thing.
